The caravans rented for the purpose of providing a space for actors to rest, change clothes, or do makeup on television series sets are also made available for camping during the tourism seasons. However, in recent years, as the demand for camping and caravan tourism has increased, the demand for caravans coincided with the growth of the television series industry. The estimated number of caravans in Turkey, ranging from 4,000 to 7,000, has proved insufficient to meet both the needs of television sets and tourism rentals. As a result, caravan rental prices have doubled in recent years. Daily rental prices, which used to start at 100-150 Turkish Lira, have now reached up to 300 Turkish Lira. For bus-type caravans, daily rental prices range between 2,000 and 2,500 Turkish Lira.

Soyut Karavan's Business Development Manager, Serhat Ay, stated that the sector has seen significant growth over the past two years and provided the following information: "Caravans are not widely used in Turkey. We mostly see foreign-plated caravans on the roads. Caravan tourism was not well-known enough in Turkey. Caravan tourism started to become more widespread in Turkey, especially with the increase in education levels and people's search for alternative vacations. Now, Turkish people have also discovered the joy of caravanning. In the tourism sector, which is particularly active during the summer, there has been a growing demand for tourism purposes even during the winter season. Previously, there was less demand for caravans during periods other than the summer. However, the tremendous demand coming from film and television set productions throughout a season, including autumn and spring, can be said to have ended this off-season. As a result, there has been a clash of demand from both sides. Normally, prices differ by around 20-25% between the summer and other seasons, but now caravan rental prices have increased by 50%. It is purely a matter of supply and demand. As demand increases and supply cannot keep up, prices rise."

Serhat Ay, imported raw materials have also contributed to the increase in caravan prices. He said, "When the exchange rate of the US dollar reached 1.75 from around 1.50, caravan prices increased by 20-25 percent. The prices of caravans with home-like comfort range from 15,000 to 80,000 TL. There are many companies in Turkey that produce caravans of various sizes, catering to both tourism and the construction sector. As Soyut Karavan, we have the capacity to produce 1,000 units of motorhomes and towable caravans."

It is also used for shooting abroad

Serhat Ay stated that there is always at least one caravan present on television series sets in Turkey. He mentioned, "The demand for caravans varies depending on the size of the set. Some sets rent out 3-4 caravans, while in foreign sets, this number can go up to 10-12. Recently, during the filming of an American TV series at the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, a total of 26 caravans were rented. Depending on the size of the sets and the needs of the crew, there are typically 3 to 12 caravans on each set." Ay also mentioned that artists prefer bus-type caravans for their music tours.

Caravan park rises to 10,000 in two years

It is expected that the number of caravan users in Turkey, which currently ranges from 4,000 to 7,000, will reach 10,000 within two years. There are approximately 70 caravan campsites in Turkey, with the majority located in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions. In Istanbul alone, there are over 1,000 individuals or organizations engaged in caravan rental services. Some of them offer rental services with a single vehicle, while others operate with multiple vehicles. The caravan industry in the EU has reached a size of up to $50 billion and provides employment for 170,000 people.
