Izmir Bird Sanctuary, where many different birds such as crested pelican, pink-winged flamingo, moorhen, gray and black storks live, is one of the most important wetlands in Turkey. The region, which is visited by around 50,000 birds every year, is located on the migration routes of birds.<\/p>\n

In clear weather, the lake has water lilies and irises, as well as numerous islets of floating reeds. This freshwater complex is separated to the south and north by Yay Lake, a saline lake. Located within the borders of Samsun's Bafra, 19 May\u0131s and Ala\u00e7am districts, the K\u0131z\u0131l\u0131rmak Delta, which is 56 thousand hectares wide, including the area where K\u0131z\u0131l\u0131rmak flows into the Black Sea, is one of the most important wetlands in Turkey.<\/p>\n

The K\u0131z\u0131l\u0131rmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and home to 359 bird species, stands out for its vital importance for bird species that directly cross the Black Sea during migration.<\/p>\n

In the delta, species such as balaban, red-breasted heron, black stork, spoonbill, gray duck, wood duck, Hungarian duck, diamond-headed egret, Hungarian duck, diamond-billed egret, small forest eagle, crane, reed bunting, longstart, great egret, marsh swallow, striped warbler, little cormorant, little egret, paddy, pintail, stilt tail, little gull and tern with white wings can be observed. If you want, you can take your binoculars and observe the birds. The delta is also an important habitat for fish and contains many settlements from historical periods, which nature lovers observe with great interest.<\/p>\n
